Choice Based Credit System

Govt. College of Commerce and Business Administration Sec-50, Chandigarh organized a One day Panel Discussion on Choice Based Credit System under the aegis of State Higher Education. The illustrious panelist Prof Karamjit Singh, Director, HRDC Panjab University emphasized that this system aims to enable students to opt for courses of their choice and pursue skills to enhance employability, and the grading system aims to facilitate seamless mobility of students across institutions. Dr Jaswinder Singh, Principal, Guru Teg Bahadur College, University of Delhi, spoke on several unique features i.e. Enhanced learning opportunities, ability to match students scholastic needs and aspirations, inter-institution transferability of students etc. The other eminent speaker Prof Sanket Vij, Director HRDC, BPS, Mahila Vishwavidyalaya, Sonipat was of the opinion that it should be first started for the university courses and then introduced in the undergraduate courses only then it could effectively respond to the educational and occupational aspirations of the upcoming generations. More than 75 participants including Principals of various colleges participated enthusiastically in the deliberations and brain storming sessions to implement the CBCS in the subject of commerce in Panjab University affiliated colleges as a pilot project.

Seven Day National Level Faculty Development Program

Govt. College of Commerce & Business Administration, Sector-50, Chandigarh in association with RUSA grant from the Department of Higher Education, Chandigarh Administration, U.T., Chandigarh, is organizing a Seven Day National Level Faculty Development Program on “Analytical Techniques of Research” from 28th March to 3rd April 2016 to hone and improve the research quality of the faculty members and research scholars of various colleges in the region. The applications were invited from various colleges and 40 participants were short listed. The  Eminent Resource Persons invited for training are Prof. (Dr) Sanket Vij – Professor -Department of Management Studies,  at Bhagat Phool Singh MahilaVishwavidyalaya, Khanpur Kalan, Sonepat, Haryana (BPSMV), Dr. Neeraj Kaushik – Associate Professor at National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra , Dr. Balwinder Singh –Department of Commerce  and Business Management at Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar and Secretary, Indian Commerce Association at Indian Commerce Association, and Dr. Sanjay Rastogi – Associate Professor at Indian Institute of Foreign Trade, New Delhi Specialising in Quantitative Techniques, Business Research Methods and Econometrics. The FDP was  inaugurated by Mrs. Manjit  Kaur, Principal GCCBA. The FDP is made totally free for all the delegates.

General Financial Rules

One Day Workshop for Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff

General Financial Rules

 Government College of Commerce and Business Administration Sec-50 Chandigarh organised One day Workshop under the aegis of RUSA on General Financial Rules for the Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff. More than 50 participants from various colleges attended the workshop. To begin with Principal Mrs Manjit Kaur welcomed the Resource person Mr Ashwani Dogra DCF&A and Mr Anil Kumar Vij ACF&A. The Resource Person enlightened the audience on various Financial Rules pertaining to Medical Leave, Medical Reimbursement Leave, LTC, Maternity Leave etc. The participants in the workshop felt that they learnt valuable insights related to technical issues concerning Financial Rules. The workshop was successfully concluded followed by lunch for all the member participants.

One Day Workshop

One day workshop on International Practices in Higher Education

RUSA Unit of GCCBA 50 organized a workshop on “International Practices in Higher Education” on 14th Nov, 2015. Dr Shantanu Ghosh an eminent academician who is working as a senior Research fellow at Massachusetts General Hospital, the teaching hospital of Harvard Medical School (USA) was the resource person on the occasion. Dr. J.S Raghu(Principal PGGC-11) was the Chief Guest on the occasion.  Mrs. Manjit Kaur (Principal GCCBA 50) welcomed the guest and faculty members from different colleges of Chandigarh. The other dignitaries present on the occasion were Sh. B.P Yadav (Vice Principal PGGC-11), Dr. Rosy Walia(Dean) and Mr. Amarpreet Singh(Vice Principal). More than 50 participants attended the workshop.

Dr. Ghosh stressed on the fact that, in order to excel in life one has to continuously challenge his ability. The plan outlay of best Indian Educational Institutes is far below than best International Educational Institutes. He highlighted the fact that we lack not only in finances but also in commitment. He ended is discourse by saying that we have to build capacities through collaboration with Industry and academia at International level.

GNSM-2016

Government College of Commerce and Business AdministrationSector 50 Chandigarh organized a Two Day National Seminar in Management in Association with RUSA, Chandigarh Administration based on the Theme: Management for Sustainable Development in 21st Century on 1-2 February 2016. Sustainability is now the key challenge in the domain of humanities in the recent times. One can hardly reach the epitome of growth considering environmental constraints without effective management, ideas and postulates. To establish parity with reality one must appreciate the fact that the field of management genuinely encompasses almost all areas be it Government, public or corporate sectors and so on. To address this issue the national seminar was organized and on the very first day of conference it got a huge response from researchers, professors, management scholars, students, technocrats and educationists from all over India to participate and to share ideas over the same dais.

This camp is organised for the students relating to “Self-development and Personality development”. The Resource person Mr. Manish Kumar Aggarwal from The Mind Food Chef who conducted this workshop emphasised on the techniques to serve happiness, a sense of accomplishment, help people to live a worthy life and create a legacy: a decision for having an inspiring life.

The MindFood Chef support individuals to learn who they are, who they want to be and help them to develop a success map for reaching their potential; earn money, recogn4ition, fame, interpersonal relations and ultimately achieving the self.

It support the organizations to develop a collective and perpetual organizational behaviour, refine their outlook, develop a synchronized thinking, simplification in processes, create responsibility centres and grow human capital.

Tally Workshop

Workshop under RUSA of GCCBA Sec-50 Chandigarh organised 40 hours capacity building workshop in tally for students starting from in the month of February  2016  in collaboration with Arjun Ram Lakhan & Associated.

The Resource person Mr. Arjun Practicing as a Chartered Accountant in Chandigarh have developed a course Keeping in mind the practical aspect of accounting through application system . It will be a course which would help the students /fresher’s to meet the expectation of Micro , Small & Medium Enterprises. We would provide the training to students on TALLY Application Software, Which is currently used by small & midsized organisations for their day to day accounting & MIS.

Leadership Training Camp

Workshop under RUSA of Government College of Commerce and Business Administration Sector 50 Chandigarh organized the 4th Leadership Training Camp for two days ie on 8th and 9th October 2018. The camp was being organized for the fourth time in association with Forum of Free Enterprise a Charitable Trust established by Late Sh. A.D. Shroff in Mumbai in 1956.The objective of the Trust was to educate the public on economic affairs. In order to achieve the same, the forum organizes training camps in various colleges and schools all over India. The camp as always was very successful with the students from tri-city as it has engaged them into some practical exercises/workshops for Two consecutive days to understand Leadership, Management and Team work. The basic purpose of the programme was to engage students by the team of experts from Mumbai Shri Vivek Patki and Shri Sachin Kamath who took highly interactive sessions based on practical workshops on the themes like Goal Setting, Self-Esteem, Time Management, Self-Management , Communication Skills and team work to highlight a few.

Workshop on Goods & Services (GST)

A workshop cum awareness program on implementation of GST was organized by Govt. College of Commerce and Business Administration Sector-50, Chandigarh under Capacity building initiative of RUSA on 22nd and 23rd Oct., 2018. A special presentation on the implementation of GST was delivered depicting its implications and future taxations. The workshop was attended by the students and faculty members of the college. This workshop aimed at ensuring that each participant should go with enriched knowledge of this new tax legislation. Trainers of the workshop CA Alok Krishan- senior partner S Tandon and Associates Chartered Accountants and CA Mastan Singh- Chairman ICAI(Chandigarh branch) and Managing Partner at M S Chambyal & Associates gave detailed insights into GST framework and its implementation in India. Various aspects related to GST compliance like Registration, Input tax Credit and return filing were discussed in detail. The workshop ended with the question answer session where students were able to discuss their queries with the trainers.
